Summer 2016: We welcome Riley Boyd, a summer visiting undergraduate student from Kalamazoo College.

Oliver Yockey, an undergraduate researcher in our lab, has been selected as one of the 2016 Summer Scholars of CMU. He will be supported by ORGS to conduct research over the summer in the Zhao lab. Congrats, Oliver!

Aug 2015, Wenyan and Dr. Zhao presented our recent data at the Division of Chemical Toxicology of American Chemical Society Meeting in Boston. Mar 2015, Adam was selected as one of this year’s two winners of the College of Science and Technology Dean’s Award for Undergraduate Research. Congratulations!

Jan 2015, Our paper titled “Kinetic and Structural Mechanisms of (5’S)-8,5’-Cyclo-2’-deoxyguanosine-Induced DNA Replication Stalling” has been published in Biochemistry!

Sep 2014, Nick Morse and Christian Bonzheim joined the lab as undergraduate research assistants.

Jun 2014, Adam Ouellette joined the lab as an undergraduate research assistant focusing on the kinetic and structural investigations of human cystathionine gamma-lyase.

May 2014, Storm Shriver successfully completed his thesis project. The Sulfolobus solfataricus p2 DNA polymerase IV (Dpo4) he purified resulted in two high resolution crystal structures of Dpo4-DNA complexes.

Mar 2014, Dr. Wenyan Xu joined us as a postdoctoral fellow. Wenyan’s project is to elucidate the kinetic and structural mechanisms of error-prone and error-free DNA replications induced by oxidative DNA damages.

Dec 2013, Storm Shriver joined us as a CHM491 student to complete his B.S. thesis on “Protein Expression and Purification of Sulfolobus solfataricus p2 DNA polymerase IV (Dpo4)”.
