Postdoctoral Fellow Position in Cell and Molecular Biology 


Job description 

A postdoctoral position is available in Dr. Linlin Zhao’s laboratory at the Department of Chemistry of the University of California, Riverside. The postdoctoral fellow will work on NIH-funded projects focused on elucidating the mechanism of mitochondrial DNA turnover (Nucleic Acids Res. 2023, 51(1):41-53; Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A. 2019, 116(36):17792-17799). The candidate will have exposure to the laboratory’s expertise in DNA damage and repair, mitochondrial biology, enzymology, nucleic acid chemistry, and proteomics. The postdoctoral fellow will have opportunities to interact with staff at core facilities to acquire skills in proteomics, genomics, DNA sequencing data analysis, and bioinformatics. Besides, the fellow will have the opportunity to hone his/her skills in scientific communication, student supervising, and lab management. Qualifications 

A successful candidate should have a doctoral degree in cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related field. A candidate with a strong background in mitochondrial biology, mammalian cell cultures, and genetic manipulation techniques, such as lentiviral, retroviral, and CRISPR, is preferred. 


Appointment, salary, and benefits 

Appointment period: One year, renewable annually. 

Salary: Postdoctoral salary is commensurate with qualifications. $60,000—level 0 (experience after Ph.D. 0 - 11 months); $62,220—level 1 (12 - 23 months); $64,522—level 2 (24 - 35 months); $66,909—level 3 (36 - 47 months); $69,385—level 4 (48 - 59 months); $71,952—level 5 (60 - 71 months).
